Well, this is just another $5 find off of Craigslist I was so lucky to get. This lady was moving a couple states over and didn’t want to bring this along, so she had a bunch of stuff for sale. I actually bought 2 folky art like prints from her {I’ll take pics of them and post them at a later date}.
I was contemplating on whether to redo the cushion or not, but decided against it as I think it looks pretty cool just the way it is … and the fabric was in decent shape as well.
So, I just roughed it up a bit with some sand paper, primed it, and painted it white …. with a spray can! Doesn’t get easier than this, peeps!
In the summer when I was home, my mom and I were going through my Gramma’s sewing room trying to clean it out (she passed away 5 years ago, hard to believe!). I found so many great treasures that I’ve been wanting to share with you. The green pillow below is one of them! She HANDMADE this pillow! It was empty when I found it so I was able to look inside and she HER stitching! I couldn’t believe it, it’s sooooo beautiful … and I’m not a huge fan of green … neither is my mom … maybe that’s where I get it from? hmmm?

that is awesome! and the pillow your grandmother made just completes it all!
Gotta love a good deal! And I ADORE that pillow!!!!! I hit my goal of 50 links, so be sure to come back next week cuz I’m having a giveaway!!!!! Thanks for linking up to gettin’ crafty on hump day!!!!!!!
Great job! Spray paint is my best friend too! I love the bones of the chair!
That looks great. I guess spray paint is the way to go on a chair like that. Me, I’m more of a brush person.
I love the chair and I think the upholstery on it looks great. The cushion is fabulous as well. Merry Christmas!
Very nice! I have been dieing to find a fun chair like this to redo….still on the look out! I like that you kept the cushion…gives it a more retro feel
A $5 chair is always good….but you made it even better..Did you put the rollers on it? I think it adds a nice touch!!!
The rollers came on it already … I love it! Makes it so easy to move around!
Totally BOHO CHIC! I love it! The best part is that Gramma’s pillow is the icing on the cake.
Take care,
Lisa
The chair looks great but that pillow is amazing. Your grandmother was a talented seamstress, I would have thought that pillow was store bought. TFS.
Yes, my Gramma was a great seamstress … I’ll be posting some other items she made that I thought were store bought as well. Thanks for your comment!
That chair looks so comfortable! I love how it turned out. Isn’t it amazing what a little time and care can do for an old chair?
Your chair looks exactly like one I just got for $5 at a thrift store. I’m about to re-do mine and blog about it once it’s done. Mine is in a gold tone but even my six year old saw your picture and said “Mom, that’s your chair” cause it’s so close! I want to paint mine white, possibly, but I’m going to have my mom sew a slipcover and am looking for some fun fabric to do that with first! Thanks for sharing. Very cute!!

What a NIFTY THRIFTY treasure…hop on over and share her at my NTT party…hope to see ya there:) Merry Christmas!
Blessings,
Linda
Hello…
Love your chair redo! Ohhh…and your Grandma’s hand sewn pillow is awesome! What a sweet treasure to have. I have seen that type of stiching before but I don’t know how it’s done! I’m wondering if these things are becoming a lost art? Hope not! Thanks for sharing your pretties with us for the Sunday Favorites party!
Warmest Christmas wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design
Wow, that pillow is amazing! I love the stitching! The chair is pretty awesome, too. A re-do doesn’t get any easier than that! I have a chair in my garage just waiting for a re-do! Thanks for some inspiration! I’d love for you to share this at my weekly link party! http://alittleknickknack.blogspot.com/2010/12/everything-but-kitchen-sink_16.html
I am terrified to try furniture re-do but it looks so fun! You did a great job! Hoping you’ll visit me at Sew Chatty and link up to Made With Love Monday! That looks great! I am pregnant and I can’t wait to spray paint again. Thanks for sharing over at Tuesday Tell All!
I just purchased 5 chairs that are almost identical to this at Salvation army- they had to be sold as a set of 5 for $35, so I plan to keep 2 and Craigslist the rest, but your chair looks great, I was planning on keeping mine the dark wood color, but now I may want to consider painting them!
Carli! That’s a great buy!!! Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you end up doing with them, I’d love to see them!
Oh- that green pillow is gorgeous. How sweet to have something your grandmother made! I’m over here from Between You & Me.
I love it! $5.00!! You are a great treasure finder!

Awesome chair makeover! I love a the retro look and the white makes it seem just a little more modern!
Chair looks great and that pillow is AMAZING!
I’m officially jealous. That chair is super cool. Actually, my dad had one in his office growing up. I wonder whatever happened to it. Good call on leaving the fabric alone. Looks awesome.
Sarita, thanks so much for your vote of confidence on the fabric! Thanks for stopping by!
I have 2 chairs like that. Been in my family for 50 plus years. I need to re finish them and cover them too. Yours looks great and the pillow really is stunning with it. What a nice memento for you!
love the re-do and the pillow! Thanks so much for sharing on Craft schooling Sunday!
